Macau 2012 - Day 2 (Part 1)

I woke up as early as 6am. Did my basic yoga and woke them up! I gave the other room a rang and woke up Valerie on the other bed just beside mine. lol. Yeah, I'm that excited! lol.

 Good morning Macau at 6am

While the others were preparing, I was checking our itinerary for that day:

- Senado Square
- The  St. Paul Church Ruins
- St. Dominic's Church
-A-mah Temple

Having read many blogs about Macau I was pretty sure that these four locations will be out of the checklist by noon time. lol.

Checking our itinerary

Reminder: Most hotels provide tourist guide pamphlets at the lobby, you may wanna check those so you can see other places in the area.

It's where I found out that we can see a Panda Bear in Macau. So I told my friends we'll see some on our free time. They're excited!

From our hotel's location in Taipa off we go to Macau. I must admit we are kinda dumb to understand the bus system so we opted to go around in a cab.

Reminder: Flag down rate in Macau is 10MOP and 1.0MOP per 200m. From Taipa to Macau the taxi fare would be 30-35MOP.

Macau Tower welcoming us

It was very chilly that morning, about 12°C! From afar while on the bridge approaching Macau, the fog is really visible. And I like it! It's not like you can see that everyday in Manila. lol.

First stop: Senado Square: You won't be surprised with the numbers of high rising hotels while approaching the city. I can already imagine its beauty at night. It made more excited 'coz we will be going to casino that night. lol.

Anyway, I knew that we are almost near the place because I can already notice some Spanish/Portuguese style buildings in the area. It kind of reminds me of a place back in Manila (Avenida).

Touch down Senado Square

I realized that they must have just celebrated chinese new year in the area as we saw a big round stage covering the fountain in the middle which I always see at some pictures online. lol.

Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Largo Do Senado

Although the place is nice I wonder if it's gonna be more picturesque without those chinese lanterns hanging. lol. I was hoping to see a little piece of europe in this place. lol.

There are a lot of people of course! A lot shops too! The Senado Square is a paved area enclosed by the buildings of the Leal Senado, General Post Office and St. Dominic'c Church.

We haven't had our breakfast that morning so we decided to have a brunch. Looking for a place to eat won't be a problem as there are plenty of restaurants to eat, from Chinese to Portuguese cuisine, the only problem is... which of those restaurants would you wanna eat!! lol. Seriously!

Just across Starbucks Coffee we saw a restaurant on the second floor with mouthwatering pictures of food they serve. Macau Recipes it is!!

I had some rice topping, Pork Strips in Ginger Sauce and Lime Coke.

The price is not bad. It ranges from 20-50MOP. Besides it's Chinese food man! They're all big servings and for sharing! lol. The waitresses here are good in english
so you won't have any problems being understood or telling them what you want. And finally I get to see the famous egg tart! We had to buy one box and try it... And it's perfect!!! I love it!

Entrance to the ruins

Ruins of St. Paul's - One of the largest catholic churches in Asia (1500-1600s). What we can see today is what's left from a fire during a typhoon in 1835. In 2005, it was officially enlisted as part of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Just on the right side of the ruins is the Macau Museum. We weren't able to get in because it's closed on Mondays. lol. So what we did was sat under the tree and took as many pictures of us as souvenirs. lol. Here are some of it..

These were taken using Mark's Iphone

After the Senado Square and The Ruins tour. We took a cab and went to a temple which supposedly gave Macau its name, the A-Mah Temple.
